The story-line becomes extremely intense when the man, who now calls himself Sweeney Todd, comes back after 15 years, picks up his old trade, and vows to exact revenge for his false imprisonment. His blade not only shaves, but also kills! That's right, you read that correctly: murder. Eventually, the bodies are transported to Mrs. Lovett, who uses them in her meat-pie store and sells them to unwary Londoners.
Sweeney's thirst for blood won't be fulfilled until he slits the judge's throat, even though many die to his blade. This play is excellent in every way.
