“Exquisitely sung, profoundly emotional, and oddly amusing. Sondheim’s masterpiece, restored to its rightful proportions, greets a eagerly-anticipated return to Broadway.” - The New York Times.

Observe the charmingly deranged partnership shared by the vengeance-seeking Sweeney Todd and the energetic shopkeeper Mrs. Lovett. Located in the depths of a ominous London, this theatrical thriller presents a amusing yet darkly Victorian story of family, homicide, class disparity, and dubious little pastry shops.

Guided by the director of Hamilton, Thomas Kail, this renewed music production welcomes back Hugh Wheeler’s acclaimed with the Tony Award script and legendary composer Stephen Sondheim’s initial music. The production also features the Olivier-winning choreography by Steven Hoggett and other creative talents, like Mimi Lien (Scenes), Emilio Sosa (Costumes), Natasha Katz (Lighting), Nevin Steinberg (Sound), J. Jared Janas (Wig, Hair & Makeup), and Jeremy Chernick (Special effects).

Thanks to the astounding 26-piece orchestration by Jonathan Tunick and musical supervision by Alex Lacamoire, spectators can revel in fresh yet true interpretations of Sondheim’s famous hits such as “A Little Priest,” “Pirelli’s Miracle Elixir” and “The Worst Pies in London.”

During a previous interview with principal performer Josh Groban, he recalls his experience portraying the part of the main barber.

“… for me the captivating element in Sweeney Todd was the contradictions: the lovely score paired with the darkly amusing content, the gloomy storyline. There’s such a juxtaposition of beauty and darkness in the character, along with some of the most exceptional melodies and verses ever written. It really is nothing less than a masterpiece to present, irrespective of the genre.”

Sweeny Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street is one of Broadway’s most notable achievements in the record of musicals, consistently praised across its varied versions by the Tony, Drama Desk, Olivier, Drama League, and Outer Critics Circle award-giving organizations.
